For Years, My Table Saw Was Lying to Me.
Hey there, I’m Daniel. Welcome to HMZ Woodz.
For longer than I care to admit, my workshop was a battlefield of frustration. I’d spend an entire weekend on a project, measuring three times before every cut, holding my breath as the saw spun up… only to end up with that tiny, infuriating gap where two corners were supposed to meet.
It was enough to make me want to launch a perfectly good piece of oak across the room.
I thought the problem was me. I thought I just wasn’t “naturally” skilled enough. I bought new blades, watched hours of videos, and still, my projects looked amateur. They were always almost right.
The Turning Point
The big “aha!” moment didn’t come from a fancy new tool. It came from a realization that the pros have known all along:
Precision isn’t a talent you’re born with; it’s a system you build.
It turned out my saw was lying to me. The fence wasn’t perfectly parallel. The blade wasn’t set to a true 90 degrees. My tools weren’t calibrated to tell the truth, so how could I expect to create honest work?
